MEA supplies a split unit which has its Actuator mounted on the butterfly valve and the hydraulic control with Digital Control mounted on the HPU (Hydraulic Power Unit) with a minimum of two (2) hydraulic connections and one (1) electrical connection between the Actuators and the HPU.
The Split Unit has its Power and Control Assembly separate from its Valve Drive Assembly. The Drive Assembly is mounted on the valve; the Power and Control is mounted remote from the valve. The two units are connected by two hydraulic lines and one electronic cable. The Self-Contained Actuator has Hydraulic Power and Control and Valve Drive Assembly mounted and interconnected in one framework and assembly.
MEA supplied the first Power Recovery Butterfly Valve Actuator in Japan in 1980 for the first power recovery system. MEA has consistently upgraded the Actuator until today; the MEA standard is the Redundant Digital Actuator for 100% reliability.
High speeds and torque are needed with sensitive response to valve position control signals. We offer accurate modulating control and full stroke speed of 0.5 second and up. Our standard models deliver torques of 12,000, 35,000, 100,000 inch-pounds and one second full stroke. Torques up to 500,000 inch-pounds are also available.
