This Superthrust Actuator is an electro-hydraulic unit dedicated to two valves; factory assembled, tested and calibrated. It gives full modulating control of Plug Valve position, ranging from full open to full close, without exerting excessive force when Plug is seated. This Plug Valve Actuator limits force or thrust at all times when the Valve Plug is seated through the Electronic Control System or through pressure actuated valving. The system holds the Plug Valve closed with limited thrust during "heat-up" or "cool-down", and the Actuator stroke is adjustable to compensate for Plug seat wear.
The Superthrust Actuator responds to process demand changes as signaled to Control Amplifier. It offers very accurate control of Plug Valve position. A non-contact Electronic Feedback Signal System is standard; a Manual Handwheel system is provided. A Local/Remote manual override of the control syste is also provided.
The complete Actuator consists of three (3) basic assemblies; the HPU (Hydraulic Power Unit) for both Actuators and the two (2) Actuator Mechanical Handwheel assemblies (Mechanical Positioner). Components of the Control Unit are mounted on tensile, aluminum alloy manifolds. Accumulators are included to provide reserve hydraulic power for fail-safe or emergency use of your Plug Valve. The sealed Fluid Reservoir is supplied with Float Switch, Temperature Switch, Fluid Level Gauge and Thermometer. Hydraulic alarms are pressure, fluid level, and Reservoir high temperature. electronic alarms are provided for Loss of Signal, Loss of Position Transmitter, and Failure to track Valve and on Seat.
This Actuator has been used across the world for over twenty-five years with excellent results. The latest M.E.A. Actuator has been updated for 100% reliability. The Redundant Digital Control plus other improvements have made this possible over the past five years and proven in several installations.
The plug valve is basically used on FCCU (Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit) as designed by BRK (Kellogg). M.E.A. Plug Valve Actuator has the following features:
The M.E.A. Redundant Digital Control has too many advantages to list them all here. Please refer to the Redundant Digital Control page with in this web site.
M.E.A. Incorporated recommends Redundant Digital Control which is designed for 100% reliability. It has been proven over 6 years in field service.
